During the evaluation phase of the GrainSearch Trial program, selected potential varieties are sown into multiple plot areas at the trial site (mini bulk ups). This allows GrainSearch to carefully check the potential new seed line for off-types whilst building seed stock for potential multiplication on farm to prepare for eventual commercial release and to have sufficient seed to qualify for NVT entry requirements (must have 500kg of seed of a line to enter it into NVT testing).
